Who shared your story?

Greetings, reporters! Last week we went spelunking in social media with IntelTechniques; this time we’re leaping to the publication side with CrowdTangle.

You can’t get access to the full CrowdTangle yet (unless you’ve been invited), so we’re just going to talk about their Link Checker Chrome extension.

The Link Checker takes whatever URL you happen to be sitting on and runs it through Twitter and Facebook. I tried it on my recent story for the Lens, and found it was shared by The Lens (surprise!), and some other tweeters I wouldn’t have found otherwise.

Unfortunately, the extension only shows accounts with a significant number of followers.

If you don’t use Chrome, there’s a similar tool at MuckRack called “Who Shared My Link?” But that one only counts journalists and news orgs.

Gotta get that positive affirmation 😁 Promote your stories, reporters!

One more thing...

Did you miss the last TFR? Background sources and yourself with the powerful IntelTechniques.
