Flickr + Creative Commons. It’s a winning combination.

I honestly don’t think I could do my job without this one search engine on Flickr.

Fiickr is a fantastic site for finding photos. But a general search on the site won’t help you.

What you really want to search for are images that have been licensed via Creative Commons, and are publicly available to be repurposed and reused with your stories.

Luckily, they’ve got a search engine just for Creative Commons images hosted on the site. It’s right here I highly recommend you bookmark it.

Finding images of a place or person is easy: just type in the name and search. Finding images of more abstract things is a little harder. Flickr’s filled with random photos and images from nature, but you’ve got to do a bit of searching and scrolling to find what you really want.

Still, it’s a great place to turn if you’re trying to find the right photo to accompany a story or a blog post. There are a lot of great photos there, and they’re free for you to use. (Just make sure you credit the original photographer!)

Now get out there and tell some great stories today!
