So you’ve probably seen this thing on the side of Facebook lately. It’s a list of stories that are “trending” on Facebook.

This is… kind of cool, actually. Facebook wants to be a player in news, and this is excellent for anyone who does news reporting on the internet. Facebook’s an insanely powerful distribution tool for stories, and I, for one, welcome our Facebook overlords to the world of trending topics.

Anyway, do you want to see what’s being posted about on Facebook on a specific topic? Here’s how to find it.

A cool idea: What if you could learn a new skill how to design an iOS app, or master CSS, or learn how to build a business plan in just a few minutes a day? There’s an online tool called Gibbon that’s trying to do just that. You sign up, tell it how much time you’re willing to spend a day learning, and then pick the topics you’d like to learn. All the lessons are based off of blog posts from experts on the topic. You can check it out here.
