Almost three years ago, I decided to launch a newsletter for reporters and storytellers like me. I called it Tools For Reporters — and somewhere along the line, you heard about it and signed up. (Btw, thanks for doing that!) In 2012 and 2013, and well into 2014, emails hit your inbox a few times a month with awesome new tools and hacks for you to try.
And then at some point in 2014, I got busy… and then I got lazy… and then this newsletter just stopped going out entirely.
But I’ve got some exciting news.
A few weeks ago, a friend of mine reached out with a question. Her name is Samantha Sunne — she’s a fellow University of Missouri j-school grad, and she’s one of the smartest young journalists I know. She’s worked at places like Reuters and NPR. If you’ve been to an IRE or NICAR conference recently, you’ve probably seen her speak. Right now, she’s a freelancer specializing in data and investigations — she’s got projects in the works for Reuters, the Washington Post and the American Press Institute.
She’s pretty darn smart, is what I’m trying to say.
Anyway: She reached out to me and asked about TFR. She wanted to know if she could be the one to bring it back to your inboxes every week.
There wasn’t much to say except: Of course!
So starting next week, Samantha’s going to be behind the new-and-improved version of TFR: new tools, new hacks, new ideas. She’s going to do an amazing job, and I’m so excited to pass the TFR torch on to her. Keep your inboxes open — I promise that she’s going to send some wonderful stuff your way.
Let’s tell great stories this week, everyone.
Thanks!
