What would you pay five dollars to avoid?

A friend and I were working on websites one night when she told me I could get just about anything done for $5. A logo, a website design, a theme song.

Not true, I thought. Our economy exploits creatives and freelancers, sure, but not for that low.

But embrace the exploitation, folks, because you CAN! Fiverr connects you with creatives who will create just about anything for literally 5 bucks (and a 50-cent fee).

I used Fiverr to get a new logo for myself as a freelancer, and in less than 24 hours I had it up on my website: http://www.samanthasunne.com/.

Fiverr is good for journalists who need web stuff (that seems to be the bulk of services offered), but also for unenviable tasks like transcription, coding, web analytics or even research. For 5 bucks, I bet there’s a lot we’d be willing to avoid.
