It’s another Tuesday, reporters! Last time I talked about Politwoops, and this week we’re gonna keep the gov monitoring going with govtrack:
I think the site is meant for people who want to lobby their representatives, but it’s the best site I’ve found for researching Congressional bills and keeping track of them. I use it so much I even contributed to their Kickstarter a while back.
One of my favorite govtrack features is a “prognosis” of the bill’s chances of getting passed.
You probably wouldn’t want to write, “This bill has a 9 percent chance of becoming law.” But it does give you an indication of whether it’s worth reporting on at all.
There’s lots of other nice little features like timelines and automated alerts. Until then, it’s just a bill, only a bill, sitting there on Capitol Hill 📜
