I’ve been meaning to do this tool for a while, since it’s one you should have stocked away for whenever you need it:
OpenCorporates claims to be the largest repository of information on corporations in the world – which leads me straight in to my disclaimer that it is not comprehensive. None of these things are, ever.
But it is my go-to for whenever I’m looking up a company (as opposed a nonprofit, which I covered in an earlier TFR). It covers basic info for just about any registered company, plus a lot more for the well-known ones:
I don’t report on companies much, but when I do I pull OpenCorporates out of my toolbelt. Happy hunting!
