The lowdown on downloads

Hey again, reporters! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving – those of you in the U.S.

I got a nice note yesterday from someone named Kevin, asking if he can scrape a bunch of PDFs from a website. His local police department, bless their hearts, were uploading their activity logs as a PDF – dozens of them, all linked on one website. Helpful – but not helpful enough!

Luckily, as is so often the case, there is a Chrome extension for that. It’s called Chrono Download Manager.

Chrono finds the links and files on a webpage – PDFs, let’s say? – and downloads them all in one go. It may remind you of a certain Firefox extension that I covered two years ago, but it looks like DownThemAll is down for now.

Save some time and download in bulk!

P.S. After a formidable few years as a freelancer, I came up with a “tier” theory for timing stuff like research and reporting without getting paid. Would love to hear back from the freelancers on this list of what you all think.
