Hi reporters! I don’t remember how I came across Spoonbill, but I’ve been using it even since. And it turns out it has a bunch of features I wasn’t using.
Spoonbill (I don’t know why the name) gives you a digest of updates on people’s Twitter bios, locations and pinned tweets. Since I follow a lot of journos, it mainly ends up being updates on people’s job changes.
But you can set it to monitor whoever you want – the default is everyone you follow. You can even get a history of someone’s changes by looking them up on Spoonbill’s site. The record for Tools for Reporters doesn’t go quite all the way back, but does go back to 2017 which is pretty far.
It is Twitter-specific, but useful nonetheless. Also surprising how often people change their bios by like, capitalizing one letter. Monitor people, reporters!
