A big change is coming to TFR

Hello, reporters! If you read regularly, you may have noticed I’ve been hinting at a big change for a while.

After 10 years (!) of writing Tools for Reporters, I decided to finally hit the big time: TFR is going Freemium.

Next year, everyone will keep getting biweekly tools, but now you can also subscribe for even more cool stuff. Paid subscribers will get bonus tools, tailored guides and more – I’ll be announcing a full set of features next week.

Since I’m a reporter like everyone else here, with several balls in the air, I’m only doing this for one calendar year. So if you already know you’re interested, grab it now!

Ok, that’s the big announcement. If you missed my last post, I suggest you check out this Poynter article I was interviewed for. It covers Twitter alternatives as well as the pro’s and con’s of leaving, which I think are worth thinking about.

I’m just a lone reporter doing this in my spare time, but I’m excited about this tier, so please bare with me as I put together the schedule and such. Here we go, reporters!

One more thing...

Did you miss the last TFR? If you are leaving Twitter, choose an alternative such as Bluesky, Mastodon or Threads
