So! This week’s tool is rather specific to Skype users, although, given our steady march away from telephone-wire calls to Internet-based calls, that’s probably just about everybody. The very simply named Call Recorder, as you may have already intuited, records Skype calls.
One drawback: it has a high price point – or rather, a low free-trial point. You only get 7 days on the free trial, and after that it’s a full $30.
But this was the only reliable and non-sketchy-looking app I could find for recording Skype calls (couldn’t even find a Windows equivalent, sorry). The Skype website lists several other options, but a lot of those are sketchy as ****.
I need to record Skype calls so I can produce a Missouri-based radio story from London, England. You may need it because you can’t record on a landline or might need the high audio quality. The company also offers a recorder for FaceTime, which I heard also has above-average audio quality. I will try that out… as soon as I figure out how to use FaceTime.
