Hey, reporters! Big news this week. First, Tools for Reporters was recommended by the Lenfest Institute for Journalism as a media newsletter worth paying attention to. If you haven’t already recommended TFR to your friends, now might be a good time.
The other news is that J.C. Lee is joining the TFR family. We’re going to have a website and Twitter account that doesn’t make me hide my face in shame, so that’s something to celebrate. Everyone welcome J.C.!
I’m traveling in Romania, so going to keep this week’s issue short and quick – yet travel-focused.
IJNet, a part of the International Center for Journalists, runs the most comprehensive and exciting website I know for finding cool sh*t going on. Their Opportunities page has an extremely wide and varied list of stuff from grants to conferences to scholarships to online training to I don’t know what else.
Just today I found a writing job in India, a media conference in Lebanon and a cash prize for innovative Russian journalists. It’s a great resource for anyone who’s open to, say, a short stint abroad or entering a contest on covering corruption.
I spend a lot of time looking up opportunities like this, both for myself and for others, so when I say IJNet is the best, I know what I’m talking about. I hope y’all check it out and find something cool!
