Hello, reporters! We’ve talked about portfolios in the past, and I definitely know a journalist or two who rely on MuckRack to maintain their clips for them.
But if you’re a student, freelancer, or job seeker, you probably want something that looks like you put a bit more effort into it. Carrd is something that came across my desk recently that makes tiny, extremely Millennial-esque sites.
Like this is actually a totally serviceable portfolio page:
As you can see, there’s nothing on it but some links to social sites. Luckily, minimalism is in, so you can put the absolute least into your portfolio and call it design. That said, I think Carrd’s designs are impressive (except the ones that are funny).
The downside, as is the case with all free portfolio sites, is you don’t get a custom domain. Instead of samanthasunne.com, I would have samanthasunne.carrd.co. Not very professional but not the end of the world either. Good luck reporters!
