Greetings again, reporters! We’re going to keep the portfolio theme going this week with two more tools: Contently and MuckRack.
The best thing about MuckRack is that it automatically creates a feed of stories with your byline. I was surprised, first, that I had a profile (I don’t even remember making one) – but more surprised it had been successfully pulling in my content for years!
“Successfully” is the key word there. I use other web monitoring tools, like Mention, that pull in content of varying quality, but MuckRack is definitely the most accurate.
I think it loses out to Contently, though, in the looks department. (Sorry, MuckRack.) Contently doesn’t aggregate your stories automatically, but it does give you more control over how it looks on the front end. It’s also a bit more colorful and design-y in its layout. Plus, Contently offers a whole platform for buying and selling freelance work.
I’d say Contently is probably best for freelancers who don’t want to maintain an entire website to showcase their work; while MuckRack is good for full-timers who would like a portfolio they don’t have to worry about.
And if you missed it last time, you can also archive your work with Authory or SaveMy.News. Back up your sh*t! 😉
