Hello again, reporters! I’ve been aware of this resource for a little while but wanted to make sure they were free and open before they got overrun with overworked journalists.
Lawyers for Reporters, a new spinoff of Tools for Reporters (just kidding, I can claim no credit whatsoever) provides – you guessed it – free lawyers! Of all the resources journalists would benefit from, lawyers have to be among the most expensive.
Today, we’re excited to announce a new free legal clinic in partnership with @law4reporters for documentary freelancers working in the US.

It was created by trustworthy journalism and law organizations, and can help with stuff like copyright concerns, defamation worries, company incorporation and more. The RCFP and SPLC legal hotlines are also great resources, but these seem like more lengthy collaborations.
Lawyers for Reporters just launched last year and they have capacity for more clients, so get in there before the rest of us poor ink stained wretches do. See you in court, reporters!
